Week #61

Hello to my favorite children of God!

First and foremost HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my old man! You’re the best dad. I hope you have thee best birthday ever! You don’t look a day over 20.... okay maybe more like 40. It has been pretty chilly here this last week. I always forget that Florida can actually get cold. It’s helped it feel like fall that’s for sure. Too many amazing things happened this week. I caught a cold and I think I accidentally passed it onto my companion, but here are a few highlights from this week!

We had MLC at the mission office and we were able to go over some of the online proselyting that we will be using. You may now see that I am able to use Facebook as a missionary. In our mission, we have begun using social media in our missionary work and I will use my Facebook account specifically for missionary purposes. I will only be able to communicate with family and friends through email on Mondays, which is preparation day! Thank you for all your love and support. It’s amazing to see how the Lord is hastening his work. Technology is here for the gospel. Imagine if every single member of the church posted a gospel related post each day how many of Gods children we could reach. Lives are changed through a click of a button! As Elder Bednar says “let’s change this trickle into a flood”. Let’s flood the earth with the gospel.

We had our Citrus Ridge Trunk or Treat this weekend and it was a blast. I love that ward activities bring us closer together. Elsie was able to come and she had a great time. We talked to her for a moment and she said there is a special spirit that is felt here in our ward. She is praying about a Baptismal date and is thinking the middle of November. Please keep her in your prayers. We were all eating chili and corn bread when all of a sudden the bishop and his family walk into the gym. Their costumes were thee best. They all dressed up from Napoleon Dynamite. Violet, who is 4, was Tina the lama. We were all dying laughing. We had a lot of nonmembers and Less Actives show up!

There was another Why I Believe fireside held at the mission office Sunday evening. This fireside is where recent converts are asked to share their conversion stories. It’s such a great opportunity to bring Investigators because they get to feel the spirit and stories of people who were in their exact shoes. There was a Sister who was simply scrolling through Instagram and clicked on a picture of the Savior which then lead her to Mormon.org. She was able to chat with missionaries and only months later was baptized into the church. It goes to show how our examples really do matter. I think I also experienced a little bit of heaven on earth. I got to see all of my former companions that are still in the field, Velda, Rose, Paul, YSA Members. My heart was so happy. That’s how I imagine our reunion with Heavenly Father in the celestial kingdom!

I wanted to share with you all why I believe. I believe because I have felt the reality of the Saviors love for me in my life. I don’t know where I would be without the knowledge of the gospel. I know that the way we live our lives enables us to be heirs of the Celestial kingdom. There is no greater knowledge than that. I believe because when trials and hardships come my way and when Satan’s temptations are real I have someone who I can rely on that knows me better than I know myself. I believe because the scriptures have shown me time and time again of the truthfulness of the gospel. I believe because I have witnessed people change their lives and see the blessings that come from it. How blessed I am to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that is my calling and that keeping my covenants allows me to have the power behind it! Scripture of the week is Mosiah 4:9-12, let me know what you learned! I love you all.

Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
