Week #41

Hello Beautiful People,

First and foremost! HAPPY FATHERS DAY on Sunday! I know it's almost a week early. I have one of the greatest Fathers this world has ever known. Thanks to him I have a testimony of this gospel, know a thing or two about cars, and have a lot of funny memories! Love you Dad!

We have been able to experience some pretty neat things this week. We have done a lot of finding on campus. It is the summer semester which means campus isn't as busy as it usually is. Not going to lie we worked hard on campus all week and not a lot of luck. The semester is almost done and everyone is returning home for the remainder of the summer. Saturday evening rolled around and Sister Neibaur's feet had been bothering her pretty bad all day. We sat down at a table and honestly were a little bit discouraged. We turned to a scripture in the Book of Mormon Alma 26:27
"27 Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites, and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success." Kid you not seconds later a man walked by and we started to talk to him. He asked what we were doing and we explained we were missionaries for the church. He then began to tell us that he has been looking for our church and didn't know where to find one. We invited him to church and he even greater part is he came to the parking lot and saw everyone dressed nice and left because he was in jeans. He told us he will come next week when he is dressed appropriately.

I learned two very valuable lessons that night. The Lord does his finest work in the last hour. As we show him our faith and our diligence he provided. He promises us that and the Lord is the greatest covenant keeper there is. Also don't forget to tell people what to wear to church....I guess we were just a little excited we forgot to mention the minor important details.

Sister Bennett and I had the opportunity to go to MLC this week. All I can say is that President Cooper is such an inspired man. He has really helped me understand the principle of setting goals and having the faith to achieve them. These meetings are always a great reminder to me that this really is the greatest work on this earth. After MLC Sister Bennett and I planned for exchanges for this transfer. Can I just brag about Sister Bennett for a moment. She is one of thee most inspired people I have ever met. She was Sister Bowen's companion right before she got transferred into the Brandon Zone. I'm seriously reminded every day how lucky I am that I get to serve around such incredible missionaries.

I have so much love for the Book of Mormon. One of the crowning moments in the Book of Mormon is when the Savior himself visits the Nephites. This week I was able to study in depth 3 Nephi 11! At this point in the Book of Mormon all of the prophesies of his death and resurrections have been fulfilled. The wicked have been destroyed and the righteous are left astonished. The remaining Nephites experience repentance and the power of forgiveness. As we repent it allows us to more closely listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. In vs. 5 we see that it took the Nephites three times to recognize the voice of the Lord and they did open their ears to hear. It made me think how many times in our lives does our Heavenly Father tries to reach out to us and we miss it. Elder Oaks explains “The voice of the Spirit is described in the scripture as being neither ‘loud’ nor ‘harsh.’ It is ‘not a voice of thunder, neither … voice of a great tumultuous noise.’ But rather, ‘a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper,’ and it can ‘pierce even to the very soul’ and ‘cause [the heart] to burn." I often find myself looking beyond the mark.

The gospel is so simple!  Faith...Repentance...Baptism...Holy Ghost...Enduring to the end.... when we understand these 5 interlocked principles of our Savior's gospel and use them in our everyday lives WE WILL begin to recognize the voice of the Lord the first time he talks to us! I challenge you to read 3 Nephi 11 slowly. I promise that if you do you too will feel the spirit pierce your heart and you will come to know your Savior! Ahh I love being a missionary and I love this gospel. It is true! Hold onto the testimony that you have and strengthen it as you read the Book of Mormon!

Thanks to all of your support. I am so grateful to have such amazing people in my life! As President Cooper would say onward and upward!! Have a wonderful week!

Love,
Sister Graham
