How's everybody doing?! Hope all is going well wherever you might be
in the world right now!
The beginning of the week consisted of staying in the apartment
because we were both pretty sick with some cold that we caught. Our
voices are slowly coming back. Haha we still sound like we've smoke
our whole lives but each day it comes back more and more!
Wednesday was transfers at the mission office. We were feeling a little
better and wanted to go say goodbye to everyone. Sister Lesuma, Sister
Hansen, and Sister Suman all got transferred out of the zone. Which
all three of them are some of my best friends. It was sad to see them
leave but so cool to see that the Lord has other plans for them.
Sister Ward is the new Sister serving with us here in the YSA and she
is the best. After we said bye to all the Sisters we were going to
head onto campus to do some contacting but we still weren't feeling
too great. We decided to walk home and eat some lunch and we were both
out until the next morning!
Thursday we had a lesson with one of our investigators named Rachel.
Her and her friend referred themselves to meet with missionaries to
learn more about what we believe back in March. We went over to her
apartment to read the Book of Mormon with her. When we got there her
roommate Bri and friend Kyle were there. I didn't notice this before
but she has a whole shelf of books on Mormon doctrine and literature.
Pretty crazy. They are all very strong in what they believe and we had
a conversation on the grace of our Savior Jesus Christ. While we were
there with them we felt that they were trying to convert us. We
testified boldly of the Book of Mormon and told them that there is no
way that we would ever deny the power that comes from that book. We
have been able to feel it in our own lives! Rachel and Kyle came to
institute with us that night and we sadly found out that the two of
them are actually protesters at the Manti pageant! My heart broke
because I know just how true the message of the restoration is and
anyone who has and open heart and contrite spirit can feel it too! I
know they aren't ready for the message right this moment but I pray
they accept it one day!
Velda, who was baptized on Easter, told us that she is moving to Miami
for the summer to watch her niece. My heart shattered into pieces
because she brings so much to the ward. Some of the most spiritual
experiences on my mission have been in Velda's lessons. As we were
talking with her we asked her to share her testimony. It was so
simple. She told us that she hasn't read the Book of Mormon all the
way through but she knows the church is true because she has felt it
in her heart. That is where the Lord does all of his work. It made me
think, how often do we truly look beyond the mark? Each of us have
felt the divine power of the Holy Ghost in our lives. Velda has taught
me to be confident and trust in the spirit of the Lord!
We had an amazing lesson with Rose this week. She has been working
really hard on her family history and seriously inspired me to do my
own. Not only are we helping those on this side of the veil but on the
other side as well!! We had a lesson on the priesthood and the
important role it plays in each of our lives! How grateful I will be
that the power of God is on the earth once again. Not only is it back
in its fullness but it enables us to make covenants with our Father in
Heaven. I know that Jospeh Smith is a prophet and that because of a
simple humble prayer we all have the blessings of the restored gospel!
I have been thinking a lot about the Savior this week and his
atonement. He is the greatest life that this world has ever known. I
love being able to read the Christ like attribute section in preach my
gospel and understand a little piece of who he is. "True disciples of
Jesus Christ are willing to stand out, speak up, and be different from
the people of the world. They are undaunted, devoted, and courageous."
(President Nelson from this past general Conference) The Savior lives
and he loves each on of us! Thank you for all you do for me! Have the
best week yet!
