Hey Everyone,
I love this time of year! I hope you all had a yummy and thankful thanksgiving! My heart is full of gratitude and love for my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. There is one scripture that comes to mind as I write this email this morning. “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid” (Matt 5:14). Ye are the light of the world this Christmas season!
We had the wonderful opportunity to spend thanksgiving with a few member families and an investigator family. At each home we shared the light the world video and challenge them to do the 25 ways in 25 days! Our last home was a special one with the Tereja family! The mom has been inactive for 17 years now. Her husband is not a member and neither are her 5 boys. Her dad is the Branch President of the Loma Verde Branch. A couple of weeks ago we knocked on her door. She answered with a puzzled look and asked us to come back another time. We commented on her Christmas lights and she told us they weren’t even close to being done. We told her we would love to come back and help her put them up. She was actually excited that we offered to help and gave us her phone number and told us to come back that Saturday! We helped her and her family the following Saturday and she then invited us to come back again for thanksgiving dinner!
On Thursday we were able to spend time with their family and at the end of the night we all gathered in the living room and watched the light the world video! I can not tell you the spirit that was in that home. I hadn’t felt the spirit that strong in a really long time. Santos and Brenda have one of the strongest families I have met on my mission! They have a piece of that light and now it is time to give them the whole light which is our Savior Jesus Christ and his restored gospel! They walked us to our car and told us they have family dinner every night and we can come over whenever we would like! These are the moment that make all the hard work and tears worth it.
Sister Suman and I were able to attend MLC in Tampa this week. It is always so motivating to be able to go to these meetings. If there is one thing that President Cooper has taught me over the past 15 months it is to love the Lord with all my heart. “And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail--But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him” (Moroni 7:45-47).
I love this work and I love being a missionary. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to serve. Make this Christmas season about those around you. Fill it with joy and happiness by turning outwards and serving someone in need! I love you all and wish you the best week!
Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
