Week #59

Hello to my favorite humans,

This week was packed full of fun and miracles! We started off the week with a Zone Conference with Elder Costa and it was incredible. We were able to listen to him and President Cooper. We had such a great time learning with them. Elder Costa is hilarious. We did role plays and helped practice how to work effectively with our members. He told us stories from when he served as a mission President in Brazil and the sacrifices the members would make to go to the temple. They would sell everything they owned just to attend the temple. It made me think, what would I give up to enter into the house of the Lord? It was so fun to see all of the missionaries I've served with in the past. I've been blessed to serve with my best friends! Every time we drive to Brandon we have a tradition. We stop at the yummiest Italian ice place called Jeremiah's! Sister Suman & I were in Heaven!

We have done a lot of member work this week. Sister Montalvo is a less active Sister in the ward who we have been working with. She and her husband both work on Sunday's. We went over and she taught us how to make dumplings and conchas. A concha is a Mexican sweet bread. I had never even heard of them before. Haha she was calling me the white sister from Utah because I had never heard of them before. I told her my mission has opened my eyes plus it wouldn't have been as cool if I knew what they were. We are helping her to prepare to receive her endowments. She wants her family to be sealed and that's what we want for her as well!

Last week we received a referral from Sister Robinson, the new mission secretary. There is a family in our area who use to have a neighbor who was a member of the church. The neighbor moved to Utah a few years ago but has stayed in touch with the Nicolls family. They have had some recent trials and told their former neighbor that they were open to the missionaries coming over. Geraldine, who is the mom, and Jodie her daughter are both from England and they have the best accents. Jodie has epilepsy and has to get a major surgery in December to try and remove it from her brain. Geraldine was a former marine and has been through a lot in her life, which has caused her to not have a belief in God! There have been many things that have happened in her life that she knows isn't a coincident, but she told us in a very colorful way that she isn't ready to accept there is a God! They do want to learn more though. We made cookies with her daughter Jodie, who hasn't been to school in over 3 years because of everything they have been through!

Brooklyn Watkins was baptized this Saturday! We have been working with the Elders, and trying to reactivate their family. Her mom is a convert to the church and goes in waves of being super active and then not! We have been helping teach Brooklyn and she has been such a little light for that family! She has been the reason for them coming back to church. We went over last night to visit their family and we're able to hear her mom and aunts conversion story!

Okay biggest miracle! Haley & Pam Shrum came to church on Sunday and...... PAM LOVED IT! Speaking of church, all 4 Sisters in the ward were asked to speak in sacrament meeting on the priesthood. Sad confession-this is the first time on my whole mission that I've been asked to talk in sacrament meeting. Sister Robertson and I spoke on the Aaronic Priesthood! Out of all the topics we got assigned that one! I definitely learned so much. We had a lesson with Pam & Haley this last Thursday on the Plan of Salvation and really stressed the importance of us understanding that we are daughters of a God who loves us more than we will ever know. Then gospel Principles was on the Plan of Salvation as well! Haley prayed for the first time in front of her mom and the spirit was so strong. She actually prayed for her mom in front of her. Elise was also able to come to church and our ward mission leader Brother Cottam came to a lesson with us afterwards. She is progressing really well!

As I've been think about the Savior this week and reflecting on his life I can't help but think how blessed we are that we have a Savior. Not only that but have the exact same church he had when he walked this earth! Studying the Aaronic Priesthood made me think, if you were never baptized, how would your life be different? What if the sacrament could never be passed to you again? Imagine a world where no one served one another. What would our lives be like? I love my Savior. It is because of him that all of this is possible! I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
