Week #57
Dearest Family and Friends!
Wasn't general Conference just the best! There is nothing like being
able to listen to prophets and apostles. I was in HEAVEN! We received
transfer calls this morning anddddddd..... we are staying in Citrus
Ridge! Sister Robertson and I are so stinking excited. Don't worry it
gets better. Do you remember my MTC companion Sister Suman? Her and
her companion Sister Williams are opening a new area in Citrus Ridge!
I can't even believe we get to serve together again. I know this is
the Lords plan because the ward needs their personalities and
testimonies! Fun fact Sister Williams and Sister Robertson were
actually MTC companions too!
The work has really picked up the last couple of weeks! We had a
lesson with Haley and Pam Shrum! Their Dad is a less active member and
referred his daughter to us. We were able to go over this week and do
a Book of Mormon read with them. I'm telling you President Monson's
talk from last general conference was inspired. The Book of Mormon is
a powerful tool. You could feel the spirit that filled the Shrum home
as we read from it! They are really starting to progress. We are going
to set a date with them this week! We also met thee cutest girls in
our apartment complex clubhouse. Nijael and TT, they are religious and
have recently had a desire to grow closer to God! We had a lesson with
them in the clubhouse this past week. We talked about the restoration
and they both loved that we have structure and it's not just anything
goes! Between working with part members, less actives, and
investigators, we've been pretty busy!
We made huge progress with Crystals family this week! We had a lesson
with them last Monday and her dad actually joined us! Craig has had a
super hard time with religion. He has a sour taste in his mouth for it
to say the least. He was actually in a band with some Mormons in the
past and they fired him!! Whoops! Sister Robertson quickly blamed that
one on the music industry and how it is constantly changing. Haha he
agreed! We dodged a bullet on that one! His biggest concern has been
watching church's teach one thing but then they do another! We
testified of the truthfulness of the church and that was one of the
reasons why! We practice what we preach or at least strive our best to
do so. Over the course of the lesson his heart was softened. We said a
prayer with their family and he thanked us for coming over! THE SPIRIT
is the real teacher! Ahh my testimony has grown so much!
Our ward mission leader has really taught me a lot his transfer. I've
never met someone who is so missionary minded. He called us one
evening and asked us a few questions. We talked about the power of
faith and that developing our faith was one of our transfer goals.
"Faith causes things to happen that need to happen" - Elder Neil L
Anderson. Brother Cottam has a huge testimony of the power of prayer
and spiritual promptings. We discussed how God will lead us to people
who are prepared. He challenged us to pray together as a companionship
and to wait for a specific prompting on where to go. We did exactly
that! We were sitting in our car because a lesson had fallen through.
We had about 15 minutes before we had to go home to get to another
appointment. I received a promoting that we needed to visit a family
who was near by. Sister Robertson felt it too and so we decided to
drive. I looked at the clock and we were cutting time super close, but
received another strong impression that we needed to go. We knocked on
the door and Elsie answered. She is the non-member Sister of the the
family we were trying to visit. We had a brief conversation on the
door step and asked if we could come by again. She was shocked that we
came by on the one day she doesn't work. She was so excited! She gave
us her number and we are meeting with her again tomorrow! Within a
matter of minutes the Lord provided. It really helped me to understand
that we really are the instruments in the Lords hands! Faith is real
and when we exercise it, miracles are brought to pass!
We had so much fun with our members during conference! Most of our
investigators were out of town, but we will be watching some of our
favorite talks from conference with them this week! I just love, love,
loved conference. So many questions that I had personally and for my
investigators were answered! I learned that we are Gods children and
because of that we have divine potential. Our Heavenly Father has more
faith in us then we will ever understand. He sees us and where we can
be. That is why he asks us to do the simple things. Read our
scriptures, pray to him with real intent, attend church to partake of
the sacrament. These things might seem so small but they make all the
difference! They enable us to become divine like our Father in Heaven!
Moses 1:39 "this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the
immortality and eternal life of man" he wants us home! So let us act
like we want to go back home to him. Each day of our lives matters,
each day is a day that we can become closer to God. Please don't let
the worldly things overtake your life and families! In the long run the
only thing we get to take with us is the knowledge and relationships
we gained on earth! Who wants to look back on their life and see how
much time was wasted! Look around and see who is in need right in
front of you as Sister Oscarson said! I know that this conference
changed my life! I hope it changed yours as well! Well that's all for
now. Have a wonderful week you beautiful people!
Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
