Family and Friends,
How are all of you doing? My heart is so full this week.
Being a missionary is truly amazing. We had a funeral last Monday for a man in
the Clearwater ward. Our district sang called serve. It really is such a
blessing that we have the knowledge that we will see our family members who
have passed on again. I'm so grateful for my own family!
We have done a lot of tracting this week, trying to build
up our teaching pool. Not the most successful week with return appointments,
but we always have fun doing it. I have a firm testimony in planting seeds.
It's so fun to talk to people and hear their stories. We have met a wide
variety of people and personalities! We met a the Bergman Family last week and
had a return appointment with them this week. They are awesome. They have a very strong catholic
background which was really intimidating at first but we knew that all we
needed to do was share the unique message of the restoration and testify of the
truth. Anders, the dad had so many questions. Sister Bowen and I really tried
to trust in the spirit. Instantly we
remembered scriptures that answered his questions. In my personal Study a few
days earlier I had been reading in D&C about eternal marriage. Well all of
Anders questions were on eternal marriage and families. We couldn't pull
D&C out on him, but it was a miracle because I now knew where o needed to
study to find answers to his questions.
Saturday we went to our ward mission leaders house for
his sons birthday. Here in Florida there aren't too many LDS kids at the high
schools and if they are they are usually in your ward. Sheldon, Brother Sparto's
son, has a nonmember girlfriend. Her mom was at the party and we started
talking. She told us her whole life story and how she came to know her Savior
Jesus Christ. It was really neat. Her daughter came over and started talking to
us. The Sparto's house was crazy. Kids running everywhere, food flying, people
singing. Sheldon girlfriend is an amazing opera singer and is obsessed with
phantom of the opera. Well she started singing at the top of her lungs and man
was she good. Her momma stood there so proud. We had a blast with them. We got
Carolyn's number and are so excited to meet with them again.
This week we had interviews with President Cooper. I love
that man!!
He is amazing. He challenged us earlier this transfer to
set a goal that we want to accomplish during our mission. We got to talk about
the goals that each of us had set. We talked about the old apartment and had a
good laugh together. Sister Bowen and I were talking to the Coopers after and
laughing about all the different things we had gone through. President told us
"the Lord didn't ease you into missionary work what so ever!" It was
fun to get to spend some time with them. They are truly amazing.
This week I've been thinking a lot about how lucky we are
to have the gospel in our lives. I came across a talk that I absolutely love!! It's called Dare To Stand Alone by President Monson. In
it there is a quote I want to share.“In all ages, prophets have looked down through the
corridors of time to our day. Billions of the deceased and those yet to be born
have their eyes on us. Make no mistake about it--you are a marked generation. "For nearly
six thousand years, God has held you in reserve to make your appearance in the
final days before the second coming of the Lord. Some individuals will fall
away, but the kingdom of God will remain intact to welcome the return of its
Head--even Jesus Christ. “While this
generation will be comparable in wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord
cleansed the earth by flood, there is a major difference this time: [it is
that] God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest … children, who
will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly.”
This is such
an important time. We are thee elect children of God how amazing is that! I
love that our Father in Heaven trusts us. I love sharing the message of the
restoration to those who are searching. It's amazing to see it bless their
lives. I love you all and hope you have an amazing week. I love this gospel
with my whole heart. I love the scriptures and knowledge that comes from them.
I love being my Saviors missionary!
Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
P.S. We tried to make crock pot mac & cheese this
week. It was an epic fail. When you get two tires Missionaries and one is a
Blonde named Sister Graham it's bound to be a disaster. Haha
