Dearest Family and Friends,
HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to 2017! I can't even believe
another year has come and gone. It has been so amazing to look back on 2016 and
to see how far each one of us have come. This week has been incredible. Sister Bowen and I are finally figuring out all the
little bumps in the road. We have had a lot of tracting and contacting time
this week. A lot of people have been out of because of the holidays. We see so many little miracles everyday. I think that is
one of my favorite things about being a missionary. Tuesday evening we were
contacting at Craig park. We met the Sani family. The have had a few trials
come into their lives. Their oldest daughter Amira had brain surgery about a
year ago and is still recovering from it. Due to the surgery she has had a lot
of her peers at school make fun of her because she now has a speech impediment
and is learning how to talk again. The mom Dai was almost in tears as she
explained that all she wanted for her daughter was for someone to be her friend
and love her. We got to teach them about the restored gospel and
explained young women's. They were so excited and invited us to teach them in
their home next week! We're super excited to have met the Sani family. Please keep their daughter Amira in your prayers.
Wednesday's we volunteer at a thrift shop sorting
clothes. We have been helping for about 2 months now and it has been an
absolute blast. Most of the workers are all volunteer. It's really cool
to see people in the community come together and help those in need. Sister
Bowen and I help in the back room with a lady named Gloria. She has been gone
because of the holidays. Gloria isn't the best at organization so the back room
is always a mess. for Christmas we all organized it and finished all the little
projects she started. We're excited for her to see it!
There are too many things that happened this week but one
more high light from this week. We were tracting in a neighborhood. There was a
cold front that came in this last week. Not as cold as Utah. Haha I'm starting
to turn into a Floridian... my blood is thinning. Anyways we were pretty cold
but we still had some time left so we kept knocking. We came across a man named Robbie. We got to talk to him
about the restoration and his relationship with Christ. We showed him the
Because of Him video and he was in tears. He told us that he has never seen a
video about the Savior that was done as well as at one. I wanted to tell him it
was because it's was made by the Saviors church but we didn't! He asked if
their were more videos and we gave him a card and told him to go to Mormon.org.
Robbie invited us back and we are going to be teaching him this week.
New Years was quite fun! We didn't get any special
privileges. Sister Bowen and I set an alarm for 11:59 so we could say happy New
Years and go back to bed but.... guess who forgot to turn the sound on. Yup
that's right me! Haha so we said happy New Years in the morning!:) Wow am I grateful to be a member of my Saviors church. I
think it's incredible that we get the opportunity to make goals for the year.
In 2017 I challenge all of you to get to know your Savior
Jesus Christ. He is the reason we are all here. Get to know him through
the scriptures. It is amazing how he can truly talk to each one of us. I hope
you all have a fabulous week!
Love,
Sister Graham
