Dearest Family and Friends,
I hope you are all having a wonderful morning. This week has been an adventure. There has been a lot going on in Florida with the hurricane. Our Ward only had sacrament meeting yesterday, because the stake spent the day cleaning up beaches and neighborhoods. Some of the missionaries over in Lakeland got evacuated but we okay over here in Palm Harbor. We received a ton of rain and wind from the storm but no damage thank goodness.
We started out with a normal week. We have been doing a lot of tracting, trying to find new investigators and people to teach. I can't remember if I have told you all about Lisa. She is a lady we met at the gym. She is so sweet and is going through a lot in her life right now. We had breakfast with her Thursday morning and got to teach her the restoration and...... WE INVITED HER TO BE BAPTIZED. Lisa explained how that was something she wanted, but she wants to learn more. Lisa will be getting baptized in November. The spirit was so strong and it was fun to be able to see how when we trust In him we are able to accomplish our goals. Will you all please pray for Lisa that she will feel gods hand in her life and feel the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
This week I also had the wonderful opportunity to have an interview with my mission President. He is the most Christ like man I have met. During these interviews we can ask him questions about literally anything. One thing that has really been on my mind lately is understanding the scriptures. President Cooper gave the best advice. We have to take it one step at a time. If we try to read everything all at once we will never be able to let the spirit teach us. This is a gospel of learning. Jesus Christ made the truth so simple. This simple answer from my mission president was an answer to one of my prayers. President Spencer W. Kimball said " God does notice us and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs." I am thankful for a mission president who really cares about each one of his missionaries.
The second part of my week is where it all went kind of crazy. We had a 2 1/2 day exchange. Sister Martin in a Sister Training Leader so she had to help out another companionship. Sister Bowen would be my new companion for the next couple of days. She is the sister I went on a split with the third day out in the field. I was super excited and nervous. We met up with the sisters and exchanged companions and then drove home. I haven't driven a car in ages. Haha I was a little terrified but don't worry after awhile I got the hang of it. It's like riding a bike ;) One thing that I love about sister Bowen is her testimony and desire to be a missionary. We studied Alma 22 this week. I love the principles it teaches us about missionary work. If you get some time go and read it. It is awesome. We had a lot of fun tracting. It was so hard because we didn't have our trainers but in those hard times when you have no Idea what to do is when the Lord allows you to grow.
Yesterday we had a young woman named Caroline come with us out tracting and visiting members. It was so great! Caroline asked if we could set specific goals that we wanted to accomplish in the next 2 hours. I thought wow she is taking this more serious than I am. What a great example this 17 year old girl was to me. We set goals and said a prayer and the coolest thing was we met every one of our goals. I will forever be grateful for Caroline and that important principle of faith that she taught me. She is just on fire about the gospel and has such a great testimony. I am so thankful for her and her shining example.
I am so sorry If I haven't emailed you back yet. I haven't had anytime on my P-day. We are still trying to set up my ipad, that why my pictures haven't been working. I want you to all know how much I love this gospel. I am thankful to be a missionary. I love it so much!! I hope that you all have the most amazing week.
Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
