WEEK #5
HELLO family and friends!!
HELLO family and friends!!
This week has been wonderful. Monday we had zone development
day. This only happens twice a year so I was lucky to get one right as I
entered the field. We played games and ate dinner which was really fun. At the
end of the day we had a district meeting and set goals for the next couple of
months. Our District leader challenged us to pray with our companions in the
morning and at night to have the spirit to be with us for the day. I have loved
doing this with Sister Martin. We really have noticed a difference. We are able
to be more in tune with him and our lessons go so much better. Hey Aunt Amanda!
Elder Walton is my zone leader. Pretty crazy out of all the missionaries we
ended up in the same zone.
Leslie is one of our investigators. We don't have very many
at the moment because we are white washing the area. Our boundaries just got
changed, so a lot of the investigators we were teaching we had to hand over to
the Hudson Elders! Leslie is doing awesome. She has no religious back ground
which is challenging, but one thing that she told us the other day is that she
had prayed and got a warm feeling. We explained to her that it was the Holy
Ghost. She started to cry and told us that she had never felt something like
that before. Leslie is a 19 yr old mom and has dealt with a lot in her life. It
was so amazing to see the gospel give her peace and hope. I am thankful
that our Heavenly Father loves us so much that he gave us a Savior to turn to
in time of need. We asked Leslie to continue to pray. At the end of our lesson
she asked who Jesus Christ was. I had never felt the spirit so strong in my
entire life. We testified of Jesus Christ and asked her if she would continue
to read the Book of Mormon. As we read the Book of Mormon we come closer to the
Savior!
Thursday we got to go to Metro! It's where new missionaries
and their trainers go to the mission office and learn how to become better
missionaries. It was such a blast. The best part was that I got to spend
the whole day with.... SISTER SUMAN! We did lots of role plays in the morning
and then after lunch we got to go onto USF campus and practice what we had
learned. It was awesome I don't think I have talked to so many people in my
entire life. At the end of the day we had a testimony meeting in the chapel. IT
WAS SO AWESOME! I love hearing from missionaries that have served longer than
I. They are so profound and know this gospel. I am so excited to get to that
point. My companion Sister Martin is amazing. I have learned so much from her.
She bore her testimony about her love for the Savior. It was incredible and I
have been so blessed that she is my companion.
The best part about this week was GENERAL CONFERENCE!! Being
on a mission conference had a whole other meaning to me. I have had so many
questions and every single talk answered a question. Isn't it amazing how the
Lord talks to each of us through Prophets. My favorite talk was the very first
one given by President Uchtdorf! His talk was focused on the Plan of Salvation.
One of the things that really stood out to me is that he told all of us not to
take the gospel for granted. I love how bold and direct this statement is. How
lucky are we to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?
I love this Gospel, I love my Savior Jesus Christ, and I love being his
missionary. I wish I had more time but I hope you all have the best week ever!!
Love,
Sister Kenzie Graham
